Porridge Power: Why Many Successful People Eat Oatmeal [Infographic]

I haven’t eaten oatmeal since I was a kid. I remember my mother making it for me with milk and sugar. I thought oatmeal, or porridge as our friends in the UK call it, was an outdated breakfast food that nobody eats anymore. I’ve recently learned though that there are successful people all around the world who eat oatmeal/porridge every morning and swear by it. Could oatmeal be the real breakfast of champions? As a busy professional, could eating oatmeal give you an edge on your day?

I found an article on MrBreakfast.com which says that over 40 studies have found that oatmeal/porridge lowers cholesterol and reduces the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and even high blood pressure. If you eat oatmeal, you might also notice you are able to maintain your weight easier since it takes a while to digest, so you will feel full longer.

In addition to that, the food team at Smoking Gun PR, a Manchester PR agency, recently did some research about the correlation between eating porridge and success. They found that many rich and famous people eat oatmeal/porridge every day. Is this because porridge gives successful people the energy to make it through their day, or is there more to it than that? You can see the results of their research in this infographic below called Please Sir, Can I have Some More…Porridge?.

So if you are used to skipping breakfast or grabbing a bagel on the go, you might consider rethinking your breakfast strategy. Maybe you want to join the list of successful people below who eat oatmeal regularly as part of their daily routine. I’m going to buy some next time I’m at the store because writing about this makes me want to eat oatmeal again.
