Maybe you’ve had to avoid spice for a while due to health issues, and now that you’re feeling better, you’re looking to add the fire back into your life. Here are some new ways to turn up the heat at dinner time that will have you thrilled that you gave spicy ingredients a chance.

1. Nashville Hot Chicken

A beloved recipe down south, this deliciously hot chicken recipe includes a whole lot of cayenne, paprika, and black pepper to bring a firey taste to your favorite poultry.

2. Green Spaghetti

This dish incorporates poblano peppers, a mild chili pepper originating in the state of Puebla, Mexico. The hotness of the dish can be reduced or increased based on the number of peppers you use, so it’s a great option for those looking for different intensities.

3. Korean Fried Chicken (Yangnyeom Chicken, 양념치킨)

Let’s face it, chicken is an excellent base for a spicy meal. This crunchy delight is lighter and crispier than its American counterpart, and incorporates ginger, black pepper, gochujang, soy sauce, and sesame oil.

4. Cajun Parmesan Salmon

This spectacular seafood dish is a great way to get a lot of protein while still indulging your spicy taste. The magic part of this recipe is the incorporation of classic Cajun seasoning, which consists of the following: salt, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, onion powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, thyme, and red pepper flakes.

5. Pozole

Pozole is a traditional soup or stew from Mexican cuisine. It is made from hominy with meat, and can be seasoned and garnished with shredded lettuce or cabbage, chile peppers, onion, garlic, radishes, avocado, salsa or limes.

6. Gumbo

Gumbo is a stew popular in the U.S. state of Louisiana, and is the official state cuisine. Gumbo consists primarily of a strongly-flavored stock, meat or shellfish, a thickener, and the Creole “holy trinity” ― celery, bell peppers, and onions.

7. Szechuan Beef

Szechuan Beef is stir-fried thin slices of marinated beef coated in a Szechuan sauce. The sauce is thick, tangy, slightly sweet with a bit of a kick. This style originally comes from the Sichuan Province in China. Schechuan sauce is a popular Indo-Chinese condiment made with red chilies, garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, and Szechuan peppers. Also known as schezwan chutney, it gets the name from the use of Sichuan peppers in the preparation of this sauce.

8. Pepper Jelly Burgers

This is a good old-fashioned burger that incorporates pepper jelly as a condiment. Delicious and spicy, it’ll become your new favorite replacement for relish of any kind.

9. Spiced Pork Tenderloin

Ready in under an hour, this delightful pork recipe uses smoked paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, dried oregano, cinnamon, and freshly ground pepper.

10. Spicy Shrimp

The greatest part of this recipe (apart from the taste!) is that it can be prepared in 15 minutes. They can be served as an appetizer, a topper on a variety of rice preparations, and additions to tacos, salads, and more.
