I remember a couple years ago when that video about how to open a beer bottle or a bottle of wine on a tree went viral. If you look on YouTube now, you’ll see there are tutorials for how to open a beer bottle with a piece of paper, a spoon, your teeth and even your belly button (I wouldn’t recommend trying that – sounds painful). What is it with us and our beer bottles? Is it just too much trouble to keep a bottle opener handy? I guess so.
We’ve even taken a shot at it here on Bit Rebels. I wrote about an iPhone case that opens your beers, and Richard wrote about a video with 101 ways to open your beer bottles. The holiday season is upon us, and if there was ever a time of the year to be able to open a beer bottle in a pinch, it’s now. So for your viewing pleasure, I would like to share yet another little handful of ways you can open your beer bottle without an opener.
This particular video was created by Household Hacker, and if you are familiar with their stuff, you know their videos are always well done and good for a giggle. These ideas are different from the usual ones too. I never knew you could open a beer bottle with another beer bottle, or even a dollar bill. Of course, it ends with the classic lighter method, which I’ve never tried firsthand. My best advice would be to just carry a discreet bottle opener in your handbag. Sure, you’ll look like a boozer when you pull it out, but that could be better than whacking a beer bottle on the kitchen countertop at a party only to make a big mess in the end. Just saying.
