Sitting Down Is Killing You [Infographic]

When you have a desk job, it’s easy to see the advantages of sitting at a desk inside when looking outside and there is a guy shoveling snow in front of your office. There you are, in your cozy warm office, typing away on that little keyboard while that guy is out there busting his butt in the cold. At that very moment, you certainly don’t think that your job could be bad for your health.

Nope, you probably think that you really chose the right line of work since you won’t have to freeze that royal heiny of yours until you are on your way home from work. However, there is quite a paradox here that you might not know about. The fact is that you are way more likely to die within 15 years of that dude outside your window.

According to Medical Billing and Coding, all the data indicates that sitting down during our office hours or while we’re at home is really a ticking death trap. Never did I think that I would be so surprised by a set of statistics. I spend a heck of a lot of hours in front of the computer, and that requires of course sitting down. However, after checking out this infographic, I am determined to switch out my standard desk for a adjustable one so that I can raise it and stand up while working.

The data presented is just mind numbing, and I am glad I found this out, and that I’m am able to share it with you. If this is actually correct, then we all have some major adjustments to make. There is no way in hell that social media is ever going to sustain its successful spread if we are starting to see people drop off the pin, if you know what I mean. But yeah, the likelihood of dying may increase, but it doesn’t say that we’ll actually die early, right? This is an alarming infographic to say the least, so check it out. If you feel you are in the danger zone, I suggest you make some adjustments to that work station you are glued to.
