The Beautiful and Dangerous Art of Fire Dancing

Now that the weather is getting warmer, I’m excited to build a fire, roast some marshmallows, and listen to some music outside. Spring is the perfect time of year for enjoying a bonfire whether it is in the woods while camping, or at the beach while listening to the waves. Fire has always been one of those things that fascinates people. I feel like I’m in a trance when I watch a fire. It is so dangerous yet so beautiful.

According to http://www.hongkiat.com, it’s that love for danger and beauty that people have which has helped fire dancing evolve and remain popular in certain places around the world. The site describes fire dancing as “a performance art form which combines equipment on fire into a spectacular dance.”

The last time I was in Hawaii, I saw a fire dance I will never forget. It involved some elaborate costumes, heavy makeup, Congo drums, knives, batons and some rhythmic chanting. It’s a mesmerizing art form for sure! I hope you enjoy these fire dancing pictures, they are some of the best I’ve seen.
