The World’s Most Shocking Beer (Made With Roadkill)

For some people, this article might be downright disturbing. This has got to be one of the biggest “WTFs” I’ve ever written about. Each one of the bottles of beer you see below costs $770. Dang, and I thought $9 for a six-pack was high. There were only 12 bottles of this beer made. As you can see, the bottles these beers are packaged in are very unusual. They were made from roadkill. To be exact, the beermaker used 4 squirrels, 7 weasels and a 1 rabbit.

In addition to the packaging being shocking, the beer itself is much more potent that your average beer. It’s 55% alcohol (110 proof). Apparently it tastes more like whiskey than beer. The decision to package the beer this way was an attempt to mix brewing, taxidermy and art. How does the beermaker, BrewDog, stand on the issue of animal rights? Since the animals were already roadkill anyway, they thought this use was better than to just leave them on the side of the road to rot.

Believe it or not, all 12 bottles of beer were sold (whaaaaaaat)! The buyers live in the United States, Canada, Italy, Denmark, Scotland and England. According to James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog, “this is to beer what democracy is to history.” I don’t know exactly what that means, but I wouldn’t buy this even if I had $770 to blow on a bottle of beer. At first, I thought this beer must surely be the world’s most expensive, but then I learned of this beer made with Antarctic ice which sold at an auction for $1,850 for one bottle. Regardless, in my opinion, this beer is completely tasteless (I know, cheap shot, I couldn’t resist). What do you think?
