Traveling To The Legendary Places Of Shakespear’s Stories [Infographic]

I think it’s safe to say that pretty much anyone who’s ever read a book or play knows who William Shakespear is. Most of us know a few quotes from his collected works and some of us have even read some of his plays. But what most of us don’t know is where all of his stories are set, right? Well, this is a pretty interesting research area and just because we are curious we are going to take a deeper look into the settings of Shakespear’s plays.

We are going to travel around the world with the help of a really interesting infographic created by Italian Breaks and features pretty much every single place that Shakespear has used as setting in his plays.

It comes as no surprise that most of the settings happen to be in England, however, some of the settings are quite interesting and you will see why when you have a look at the infographic below.

Surprising Settings In The Plays Of William Shakespear

Would you be surprised if I told you that one of the places in one Shakespear’s plays is actually set in Maruyama, Japan? I thought so. There are even more interesting places that you just have to see to believe.

Some of the more eye-catching places that William Shakespear visits in his plays are Syria, Turkey, Yugoslavia, and Egypt. I for one do not think of these places when Shakespear’s name comes up in a conversation. Do you?

Wouldn’t it be a pretty cool challenge to visit all of these places, checking them off on the list as you travel? It should be called the “Shakespear Challenge” and is no doubt perhaps one of the most difficult travel challenges to date. Would you be able to do it? Or rather, how many of the settings have you already visited so far without even taking on the challenge? – Let’s see who’s visited the most of these. Leave a comment below with all the palaces that you have already visited.

William Shakespear was no doubt a prolific writer, but he was seemingly also a very well-traveled individual (unless he imagined it all). I am no expert on William Shakespear, however, his plays speak volumes about his empathy for traveling, whether it is inside of ourselves or within the confines of the true world.

Have a closer look at the infographic below and learn about all the different settings Shakespear used to set our imagination ablaze. It’s nothing less than mind-blowing how many different places he used as his inspiration for his now world-renowned plays.
