If your website doesn’t already have a “tweet” button clearly visible in the header, footer, or sidebar, make it happen. Then, optimize your pro forma button text to include your preferred Twitter handle. That way, you’ll earn a mention every time someone tweets out your content.
Use a scheduling platform like Hootsuite to batch-schedule tweets that aren’t time-sensitive. Your future self, facing crushing deadlines, will thank you.
You don’t have much space, so it’s on you to make every word count.
Your bio must perfectly encapsulate who you are — or, for businesses, what the organization is about. It needs to be illustrative without getting bogged down in the details. It should also include a plug for your website or some other important property relevant to what you do. The Twitter bio for genealogy giant Ancestry is a great example: “Ancestry is the world’s leading resource for online family history & genealogy. Visit our website at: https://ancestry.com.”
This might be a post about Twitter shortcuts, but don’t get the wrong idea. Some ostensible pathways to success aren’t worth the headache. For instance, purchasing followers from shady social media brokers sure sounds like a good idea — until you consider all the drawbacks. Best to stay on the straight and narrow, even if it takes a bit longer.
You’re no doubt well aware that Twitter isn’t the only social media property worthy of your valuable time.
Whether you’re running a B2B business that lives and dies by its network or simply angling for a better job than what you’ve got going currently, LinkedIn provides critical voice and visibility. If you’re a creative type, you can’t neglect Instagram, Pinterest, and Snapshot. And if you’re serious about burnishing your social influencer credentials or hope to attract customers to your independent business, you need an active Facebook presence.
So, why stop at Twitter? These days, an all-of-the-above approach to social media is all that matters.
