Some people are reporting that this is the first professional Twitter chorus ever created. I don’t know if that’s true, but it sure is a fun use for social media. It all started when the Calgary chorus (@calgaryphil) decided to send a tweet to their 1,191 followers which read, “How do you stay warm in #yyc?”
Their chorus master, Timothy Shantz, spent 2 hours arranging the 20 tweets they received into a 3-minute song to fit the classic O Fortuna. This video was recorded on their second time singing it, and apparently everyone was having so much fun they had to work hard at keeping a straight face. I think I would have been laughing the whole time!
What a great way to creatively incorporate Twitter into something entirely new. Perhaps some of the young residents in Calgary will become interested in the chorus after seeing this. Everyone who was involved with this project, including Tourism Calgary was really happy with how it all turned out. I betcha this video will inspire more people to sing their tweets. It’s just such a fun idea, and this is a great example for how to do it in an innovative way!
