Scheduled Social Media Increases Reach & Productivity [Infographic]

Social media has become the prime reason why people get on the Internet lately. With Facebook hogging almost 12% of the world’s population and Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn doing their best to stay on track, it’s not hard to realize that social media is “becoming” the Internet. It’s also easy to understand that we need to optimize things if we want to stay on track with everything that needs to be done. That’s where scheduled social media comes into play. It’s something that in the beginning was considered a bad practice, but with time, has become a necessity in order to be able to do a lot of things at once. Today it is pretty much everywhere and on every service, at least the ones that understand that optimization is a must.

Spending 15 hours a day on Facebook, Google+, Twitter and Pinterest (and of course all of the other social media sites) is not good for productivity, especially if you have to manually update these branding frontiers. So when I am talking about scheduled social media, I am not saying we should automate everything. That wouldn’t be good for the brand or the following. What I am saying is that it’s time to use the tools at our disposal and try to optimize our productivity, and at the same time, increase our reach.

Some may say that this is just not possible when you use scheduled social media. I strongly disagree. When it comes to scheduled social media, there are a lot of people who think that you will simply abandon ship and hope to drive people, customers and fans by just doing nothing. That’s not what scheduled social media is about at all. By simply using the tools at our disposal, we are able to schedule our time better.

Why not schedule some of those tweets of yours for example? Schedule your tweets at a time when you know you will be able to review the feedback shortly after the tweet has gone out, and that way, save some time in between. Interaction can’t be abandoned altogether. That wouldn’t be good for business. What scheduled social media is all about is that you better organize your time for personal interaction, that’s all.

If you are one of those dedicated networkers who is constantly online and available to people, they will quickly take that for granted. Some may even go as far as to expect you to always be online, which we know of course is impossible. Instead, make sure your followers know that you are more than happy to answer their questions and interact, but within a time frame that suits your life and your productivity. Studies have shown that this approach is actually way better for productivity as well as reach. You will be able to reach more people since it will be known that within a certain time frame you will be online and available. More people will come online when you are there if they are eager to connect with you.

So, instead of trying to cater to everyone’s needs and not hit your mark, take the opportunity that is at your disposal and use scheduled social media as efficiently as you possibly can. Soon you will realize that you will become more productive, have a larger following and have more time for other things. Social media doesn’t have to be a marathon every day. It can actually be as relaxing as you would like it to be if you just realize the potential of the online tools available.
