3 Tips For When Real Life Gets In The Way Of Blogging

It’s crazy to think that you can’t do everything you want to do exactly at the time you want to do it. However, real life does sometimes get in the way. You have work responsibilities to take care of, household choirs, kids to tend to and before you know it, your time is up. It’s hard sometimes to stay consistent with our blogging. It happens to everyone.

Unless you give up sleep and just type the night away (and believe me, sometimes I do contemplate this very seriously), blogging is not always going to come first. Sometimes blogging is going to have to take a backseat to all those other (dare I say it?) more important tasks.

If it’s important to you to find time to blog on a semi-regular schedule, you might want to start following the simple suggestions here. Blogging is a lot like exercise. Sometimes it fits into your life better than at other times, but as long as you don’t stop, you will continue to see the progress and rewards from your work. If you can think of any other tips that would be helpful, please add them at the bottom in a comment. I would love to have a few more tricks to try when my own life gets in the way.

1. Make sure you set aside time to blog.

Even if they’re just short posts, I set time aside time to guest blog once a week and also to write a post on my own blog at least once a week. If I get a chance to do more than that, it’s great. If not, at least I’ve set a goal and achieved it.

2. Don’t spend your quality blogging time aimlessly surfing the Internet.

I am as addicted to social media as the next person, but I also have a strong passion for writing. If I spend all my free time surfing the Internet, I would never have time to get any real writing accomplished. Set limits for yourself when you are on social media. These limits will not only give you time to enjoy Internet surfing, but also give you enough time to accomplish your blogging goal as well.

3. Did you miss your scheduled blogging time for the week? That’s okay. Start again.

Once in a while, life WILL get in the way, despite our best intentions. Don’t sweat it. There is always next week. Nothing will happen if you don’t post this week. Just remember to make a new plan, and get it done the following week. Too many bloggers think if they don’t meet their goals one week then they must have lost their audience. However, that is just not true. Most likely your audience is waiting patiently for your next post to be ready. So get back on your blog, and write something as soon as you can.
