Android vs. iOS In Mobile Advertising [Infographic]

About two days ago, I read an article on cnet entitled Survey: iPhone Leads Android Among New Buyers. It got me thinking a lot about the ongoing argument about which is better, Google Android or Apple iOS. Of course, in order to debate this with any intelligence, some parameters have to be set. Each operating system can hold its own in certain areas. Are we debating from a developer’s perspective? Are we talking about security or usability? There are a million different ways to go with this argument.

I owned a Droid phone back when they were first released. I wrote many articles here on Bit Rebels about how fabulous the Android operating system was. I remember the first time I geeked out on a Saturday afternoon with the CyanogenMod. It was heaven (of course, there are much better ones now). I was convinced the Android operating system was the end all be all, and all others were substandard. Then, when the Verizon iPhone 4 was released, I ordered mine online at 3am on the first day like tons of other people did. I just had to see what the fuss was all about. Keep in mind; I own an Apple-certified technology company in Atlanta. I’m expected to stay on top of Apple’s technology, so it was finally time for me to own an iPhone.

Guess what? As much as I’m choking on everything I wrote before, I wouldn’t give up my iPhone now if you paid me a million bucks. Ok, maybe I would for a million bucks, but you know what I mean. I love it. I never loved my Android phone this much. I always hear this talk about Android having an open system and Apple having a closed system. I used to toot that horn too; however, as a girl in Atlanta, a single user, using my iPhone everyday… All I have to say is who cares about that? If my phone and your phone give us what we want and what we need, I could care less if it’s an open system or a closed system.

Bottom line, Apple gets my vote once again. Whether you like it or not, they simply make great products that we can’t live without. When I found this cute infographic by inneractive, I knew I wanted to share it with you. This gets into a little more of the nitty-gritty comparison between Android and iOS when it comes to mobile advertising. This is an area I haven’t looked at before. This is very interesting to me, and of course, where it counts, Apple is winning!
