It’s hard to think that the remote control could be anything other than just a piece of plastic with a bunch of buttons on it. There have been some developments as far as its design the last couple of years, and we’ve seen universal remotes that have LCD screens instead of the old and boring plastic pad remote controls. Surely there must be more ways of controlling our stuff than just a lump of plastic, right? As it turns out, there is a lot of research going in this field right now, and some people are talking about the ePaper being the next revolution when it comes to the remote control. Until today, I didn’t really know what that meant, but after reviewing some of these ideas, I totally think that the future is going to be awesome.
Designer and remote control pioneer Kristian Ulrich Larsen has an idea that just might become the most awesome thing you have ever seen, at least in front of the telly. Using the ePaper technology, or at least I think so, Kristian has managed to turn it into a rather awesome new breed of remote control, at least conceptually. When you look at it, the design resembles a wristband, and the name of it is of course taken straight from that word since it is called “Baand Remote.”
You simply scroll your finger over the wristband, and then you can see what you want on the screen. There are a ton of different features going into this thing, and because it is made out of the ePaper technology, you can simply add new features whenever you want to. Think of it as the iPhone revolution but on a remote control. There are no limits to what features you can add to it, and if I may say so myself, the Baand Remote seems to be a better fit in the hand than the now boring plastic square ones. Would you jump on this new breed of remote control or would you settle for the ole button one?
