Badass Nostalgic Steampunk Rotary Smartphone

Sometimes when people are thinking up ideas, they just don’t go all the way to the very limit. They stay safe within their comfort zone, or they keep things in the range where they know people are most likely to be interested. Star Wars is a good example of that, and we’ve seen a thousand examples of it by now. New Star Wars spoofs, cosplay wear and stop motion videos just keep coming our way, and there is really just one reason for that. It’s because the creators of these things know that we will watch them. Call them clever or us stupid, it’s really your pick, because we’re so used to just checking out stuff with our favorite words in the title. We’re getting to be like zombie readers on the lookout for our daily fix.

Well, within the Steampunk community, it really isn’t the same. At least people are trying to break out of the box and show us some other stuff so that we’ll get a new grip on the age of Steampunk. The creators within this community know that they are only as cool as their latest customization or mod, so they are constantly trying to come up with something that will blow us all away. Most of the time, they succeed.

Richard Clarkson really knows how to push the envelope just a little further. Until today, I have only seen gadgets that are mildly customized, at least of you compare them to the latest and greatest Smartphone Steampunk customization he’s done. It’s a wonderful and brilliant take on a new technology gone Victorian. The accessories are just mind crunching, and I would almost do anything just to try it out to see how the whole thing behaves. This is not to mention the kind of attention a thing like that would get if I pulled it out before a movie in the theater. The people around me would most likely think it was a bomb or something, but once they understood that it is a smartphone, there would be whole lot of talking around me. When I think about it, maybe busting this thing out in the theater might not be a good thing. After all, I want to watch the movie I am paying to see during complete silence like everyone else, right?
