Environmentally Friendly Basic Phone Introduces Smart E-Ink Features

The constant strive to make smartphones and devices more environmentally friendly has led to a whole lot of innovation in the past decade. The more we can recycle, the better. This is something that smartphone developers are constantly looking into, even though the results may vary. Recently there was a new cell phone concept presented called Cell, which introduces smart E-ink features in a basic phone that I think anyone of us could use every once in a while.

The “smart” in smartphone doesn’t always stand for all things good in our lives. Even though we all probably appreciate the mobility and constant access to the Internet, our brains need to unload all the data every so often. This is done by uncluttering our everyday interaction over the Internet. That’s where this basic phone comes in, at least in my humble opinion.

The Cell is so far just a concept, but it could very well become a reality in the very near future. Its designer, Sayer Murphy, took industrial design to a whole new level with this basic phone. Not only is it impressive on paper, but it sounds like a great idea that most of its components have been carefully chosen in order to be recycled and reused as much as possible once it is discarded for a better one.

Everything from its aluminum unibody shell to its low-power LCD screen makes this a formidable choice for anyone looking for a secondary phone that will help unclutter their reality. Not only that, but for people constantly finding themselves in the presence of the nature, this basic phone comes with a rubberized gasket that protects it from most elements and weather. Whether or not this basic phone will find its way to reality and into our lives is up to its creator. But with society getting ever more aware of our planet’s environmental needs, we could see this phone in a store in the very near future.
