Future Living: The Smart House Of Tomorrow Is Now Prototyped

It seems everyone wants to have a say in how our future living will be shaped and formed. Multinational companies such as Microsoft, Samsung and a whole lot of other tech innovators all have their video presentations of what they think will be our future. Their visions are usually several years ahead and only hint at solutions which are not here yet. But that doesn’t mean our future living environment can’t be seen in its entirety and realized today.

The fact is, a company named Think Big Factory is in the process of putting together the ultimate smart home, which we should definitely call our future living. The project revolves around a new operating system called Domestic Operating System, and it will enable full control of the digital layers that projectors will project on the walls, floors and ceiling. The D. OS (as it is shortened) will have a mind-boggling number of features that will help you customize your home in just the way you want it.

Even though we have probably seen more impressive future living in movies, this system is still a first step towards a truly smart house. With the digital layers, you will be able to watch news feeds, social networking services, play games and even change the wallpaper depending on what you are in the mood for. My guess is that with the help of perfectly placed projectors, you will be able to create a complete and seamless projection of images in a room enough to make it feel like you have complete control of its look and feel.

The D. OS is a working prototype of the system, which judging by the video, isn’t too impressive since the video shows a high level of alteration and editing. However, a few sections of the video look to be real, and I am sure the smart home system is going to change a whole lot once it is presented to consumers. It’s hard to say whether or not our future living will be run by D. OS, but the potential and guiding features could of course be great inspiration for innovators in the world to come up with their own systems and speed up the process towards living in smart homes where everything is customizable and interactive.
