Guy Builds Insane Homemade Handheld Console From Scratch For $20

By now nothing should surprise us, right? Well, there are always going to be people out there that impress the heck out of us with their skills and ingenuity. Some do it in the most creative ways while others set out to stun us with their complete awesomeness. One person that definitely does both of those is YouTuber R0D0T who decided to build his very own homemade handheld console gaming unit, and it is nothing less than insanely cool.

As I have stated so many times before, there are few things that impress me as much as when someone takes a bunch of components and builds something awesome without as much as any backing or funding. The sheer ingenuity that this person shows is mind-boggling, and that is one reason why we wanted to feature it here on Bit Rebels. The second reason of course being that we think you guys will go bonkers for it.

If you can’t afford a handheld console, or any console for that matter, then you will simply have to resort to building your own, right? That is apparently exactly what R0D0T decided to do, and the result is one of the coolest looking handheld console builds ever.

Not only did he manage to build one himself, but he never exceeded $20.00 for all the parts he used. That’s almost industrial scale per unit price, and he is more than happy to tell you how he did it on his Flickr page. For all of you tech fanatics out there, I have a few specs to share to calm your technology craving. First off the screen resolution is 160 x 128 and uses an Atmega328P w/Arduino as engine. Incorporated is also a 3 axis accelerometer and 2 buttons. A Piezo speaker cares for the sound, and the whole thing runs on a 9V battery. Now that ladies and gentlemen is what we here at Bit Rebels call a build of epic ingenuity.

You can actually create your very own handheld console just like the one that R0D0T has built.
