How To: Build Your Own iPhone App for Cheap

Have you ever thought about building your own iPhone app? Many people have thought about it, but not many have been able to follow through on that idea unless they have mad programming skills or thousands of dollars to pay a professional developer.

I’m excited to say that times are changing and as technology evolves, things that may have seemed out of reach in the past are now becoming a reality.

I’d like to share with you two sites that allow you to create your own iPhone app for relatively inexpensive. The best part? You don’t have to be a techie. Now there is officially no reason why you can’t have your business on your phone.

MyAppBuilder.com
This site specifically targets creative minds, including Twitter users. The process is super easy. Just submit your text, images, etc.. (in any format), the site performs a little miracle, and the app is sent right back to you for approval. The site also uploads everything to Apple for their approval. All of this will only set you back $29 per month plus a $20 processing fee.

SwebApps.com
This site targets small businesses. They use prefabricated templates to make their six step process easy. Of course, you can customize most of the options if you’d like. According to Entrepreneur magazine, “All apps are installed on the iPhone operating system and run natively.” This will cost you between $200 – $400 dollars, depending on how fancy you want to get. There is also a $50 set up fee, and a $25 hosting fee. My favorite part of this site is that you can see your app as it’s being made right in front of your eyes.

Considering I’ve heard of some people paying a developer upwards of $15,000 to build an app, these prices are insanely low. Now you and I can get in on the fun of building our own app! Thank you to Entrepreneur Magazine for introducing these apps and more to me in their February issue.
