The usefulness of NFC (Near Field Communication) devices is increasing every day. We’ve seen this feature in a growing number of smartphones lately, and it’s unlikely that it will stop anytime soon. What makes NFC so interesting is its seamless integration and communication with other devices. For example, a groundbreaking new NFC ring is currently being developed which could add a whole lot of science fiction features into our lives.
John McLear is the founder and developer of the NFC ring that has made a lot of people above their ears excited because of the quite impressive range of features it could drive. For example, you could have your smartphone unlock only if you’re wearing the NFC ring. Once you come close to the smartphone, it would unlock, and you’d be able to use it. Not only does this add a layer of privacy to the smartphone itself, but it also makes the smartphone more secure if you forget it somewhere. It basically means that without your NFC ring, no one else can use it unless you’re in the near vicinity of it.
The goal is to make the NFC ring an unlocking portal to all kinds of devices and features. Once you start using this ring, you could basically add layers of security to whatever you want that is driven by an NFC incorporated device. You can have door locks fit with a NFC device, which makes them unlock as soon as you touch them or come close to the door handles themselves.
Mr. McLear is currently looking to finalize his idea with the help of crowdsourced funding. He is looking to raise £30,000 within 29 days, which in itself shouldn’t be a big problem. The NFC ring is certainly impressive enough to appeal to a whole lot of gadget fanatics out there. Pledging just £22.00 will get you your very own NFC ring once the campaign is successfully funded. In order to pledge, you just go to the Kickstarter page and read up on the details and then decide how much you want to pledge. There’s no doubt this is going to be a successful campaign since it has almost everything a gadget fanatic could possibly want.
