PhoneJoy Turns Your iPhone Into A Handheld Console

The iPhone becomes more powerful with each update and iteration. It has even become a gaming “console” to be reckoned with, and there are more and more games ported to the iOS platform. Some of course with less success than others, but that is not because of the power of the iPhone, but because of the poor port itself. Developers argue that a quick port is better than a proper one, which is heartless really. There would be far more money to be made if developers would just spend a little bit of time incorporating the power of the iPhone into their ports instead of just fixing bugs that might arise during it. However, the hardware side looks a whole lot more promising. Soon you will be able to play games on your iPhone like on a true handheld console.

The PhoneJoy project has spawned a whole lot of interest amongst gamers. It’s a new iPhone accessory that will turn it into a proper handheld console with everything that comes with it. It’s a clever system in which you just insert your iPhone and start playing. This pocket-sized concept gadget is truly inspiring, and it should become a poster boy for any iPhone developer who wishes the iPhone was more of a real handheld console.

This really clever system is currently looking for funding through Kickstarter. They are looking to raise $50,000 in 30 days, and so far they have pulled together a little north of $12,000. With 28 days to go, it looks like this badboy is definitely coming true. When pledging $50 or more, you will receive a PhoneJoy handheld console accessory for your iPhone when the Kickstarter is done. It is not a bad price for something that will certainly give you hours and hours of gameplay awesomeness. For once there is a gadget that will truly change the gaming experience on the iPhone. Have a look at the presentation and be wondered at the ingenuity that this gamer’s gadget incorporates. I can’t wait to try one of these badboys out to see if it can match the retro feeling of playing a handheld console game.
