Mimos: Wrist PC With A Physical Keyboard That Rivals The Smartwatch

Smartwatches are the hottest thing right now, and pretty much every smartphone developer is looking into producing their own. It is said to be the next step in mobile technology. There are still people who want more power from their mobile devices, and so they put together things that can even rival a desktop computer. The Mimos project is one of those innovative and powerful mobile devices.

Don’t go thinking this thing will be in stores anytime soon though. Just like the Raspberry Pi once was, this is an idea that is currently being developed and gathering movement. What you see is just a concept prototype of something that could come to rival the sometimes less powerful smartwatches that are about to take over the world.

When you look at the Mimos wrist PC, you immediately become aware of the physical keyboard incorporated into the wristband of the watch. It’s a really interesting idea that allows you to type on a physical keyboard even though you’re wearing the watch. There are a lot of people who are downright fed up with the touchscreen, and how annoying it can be sometimes. The small keys and the sometimes mediocre calibration of the software buttons have completely worn out some people’s patience.

The Mimos wrist PC sports a fully functional 3.5 inch touchscreen display and a keypad incorporated into the wristband itself. The wrist PC also has a wireless earpiece that can be easily detached in order to make calls, listen to music or enjoy a movie when you’re on your way home. It’s a really interesting concept, and I think with a little bit of maturing, it could become a potent competitor to the smartwatches that are now being rolled out one by one.

Unfortunately this thing is not yet completely realized, and with some of the smartwatches now boosting their feature base and processor speed exponentially, taking this wrist PC into the next generation to be lined up with tomorrow’s smartwatches will be a pretty impressive feat. The Mimos wrist PC is impressive, that’s for sure, but will it be interesting enough to capture people’s attention? Probably not. The concept is not exactly new either, which makes it even less likely to become a product of tomorrow, sadly. It is designed by Saharudin Busri, Mohd Nizam Najmuddin, Mohd Rohaizam Mohd Tahar, and Nuzairi Yasin.
