I am always curious about what the next step will be when it comes to 3D printing. We have all seen the insane development of this futuristic technology, but where is it heading next? There are plenty of developers who would like to have a say in that matter, but it’s not until we actually see innovation within this field that we’ll know for sure where it is heading. The Zeus 3D printer is a piece of technology that is going to take 3D printing to a whole new level.
The team behind the Zeus 3D printer, AIO Robotics, is confident that they have the next gen 3D printer in the making. So what does the Zeus 3D printer have that no other 3D printer has? For starters, it will have an armada of features that normal 3D printers do not have. How about a 3D printer, 3D scanner, copier and fax machine all bundled into one machine? It’s a tickling thought, and one that could make 3D printing mainstream within a year.
Wouldn’t it be ultimately awesome to be able to buy a product on the Internet, download the blueprints for it and then 3D print it instantly at home? That is the future we are heading for, and the Zeus 3D printer is a big step in that direction.
The machine currently in development looks like a normal kitchen appliance, and it features an ARM-based computer that allows it to operate without a connection to a computer. The featured 3D scanner uploads images in HD to a cloud system, where the final 3D rendering is finished. After that, you are ready to use and 3D print whatever you want till your heart’s content.
The Zeus 3D printer is a product that I am looking forward to very much. The excitement of 3D printing keeps getting more intense, and I can’t wait until we see full blown product oriented 3D printers with the ability to produce commercially competitive printed objects. When this printer finally hits the shelves, I think we will see a whole new era of 3D printing. The Zeus 3D printer is said to be considerably cheaper than the Makerbot Replicator and Digitizer, which currently retails for around $3,000.
The team behind this printer is looking for funding in order to finalize the last steps of development and production. They are looking to raise $100,000. They are attempting to do so by using Kickstarter crowdfunding, and so far it’s a complete success. With more than 27 days to go, they have already managed to raise over $125,000, which is well over the goal for the campaign. If you want to be an early adopter of this technology, I highly suggest you head over to their Kickstarter campaign profile page and read up on the Zeus 3D printer and pledge. The future is all about 3D printing, and the sooner you get into it the faster it will progress.
