Does This iPhone 6 Design Push The iPhone Into The Future?

People are at it again, or should I say still at it? The rumor mill has started and as always, there are iPhone concept designs pushed out that try to predict what Apple is going to do next to keep the iPhone in the spotlight. There’s no doubt the iPhone has gotten some serious competition in the last couple years, but there are refinements that Apple can do to help the iPhone stick at the top. Take this iPhone 6 design for example, could it push the iPhone into the future?

It is widely known that the probable upcoming iPhone upgrade will be to an iPhone 5S, but the following year, Apple is most likely going to release the iPhone 6. Usually when Apple releases a new incarnation of the iPhone, it’s a slight redesign or refinement, and that is what designer and artist Johnny Plaid has tried to predict. The iPhone 5S could very well come with a fingerprint scanner, but the iPhone 6 design could be what really sets the iPhone apart from its current competition.

This new concept iPhone 6 design has some rather groundbreaking features, but it also has some things that might not marinate well with the more seasoned iPhone users. For example, some of the features mentioned are an edge-to-edge design, Retina 2 display, multi-touch sensors at the bottom instead of the home button, and a new MagSafe based charger.

I think I have said this before, but Apple really needs to step up their innovation strategy and be more bold if they want to get ahead of the competition. Their incremental upgrades just don’t cut it anymore, and people are starting to migrate to other smartphone brands to find more innovation.

If I may be so bold, if I had the opportunity to affect the development of the iPhone, I would certainly try and find more groundbreaking features to add to this once stellar smartphone concept. If Apple would just let the weight and the size refinement rest for a bit, and actually add more features to the phone itself, I think the iPhone 6 design could possibly break all previous records.
