Reactor: Hand-Crank Power Case For The iPhone 5

There have been many ways to charge our smartphones that have been introduced throughout the years. They come and go, and only the most optimized solutions stick around long enough to be refined and perfected. We have seen an increased number of hand-crank devices in the last few years that will charge pretty much everything, but today there are innovators working on specialized solutions that are incorporated into the very case where you keep your iPhone.

Some developers and innovators have tried to utilize solar panels, leech chargers and pretty much everything else from here to the moon. This hand-crank power iPhone 5 case has been in development for a few years now, and it’s ready to hit the market to see what it can do. It’s a really cool solution, and one that doesn’t really take up more space than most iPhone 5 cases do today. It has been carefully developed so it won’t make too much of a negative impact in your pocket or in your hands when you talk on your iPhone. Yet, it looks to reinvent the way we power up our smartphones with a hand-crank that will enable you to talk for days and days without ever having to recharge your smartphone in a regular power outlet.

It’s called the Reactor, and it is a brain child of Mathew Laibowitz of Gridcase. It is a startup that we should all keep a close eye on. They are looking to raise $350,000 within 30 days through CrowdSupply, and with 26 days to go, the project has managed to raise north of $20,000. By pledging and showing your support, the creator of the case will be able to finalize the process, put the final touches on this hand-crank case and put it up on the market.

It’s one of those really interesting projects that will have iPhone 5 case developers (and of course case developers in general) reach for new features to incorporate into their cases. We will all have to wait and see whether it will be a success or not. I guess it’s not too hard to see why such a hand-crank iPhone 5 case would become a huge success. We all need to recharge our phones everyone once in a while, and this case will enable us to do so on the go, without any power outlets or weird leech-like adapters.
