Modder Builds Real Half-Life 2 Flying Scanner Drone

When hobby drone flyers take their drones to the next level by modding them, the result is usually something out of this world. Never before have we seen so many science fiction vehicles, gadgets and toys being brought to life through modding. When Valentin Demchenko, Russia, decided to mod his drone things were bound to turn into something amazing. If you have ever played Half-Life 2 you probably remember the scanner drones that continuously plagued your life, right? Well, Valentin decided it was time to bring one of these science fiction machines to life, and the result is nothing less than a real Half-Life 2 flying scanner drone.

When modding a drone one of the most important things you have to think about is to use light-weight materials. If the drone gets too heavy, it will simply not fly. What’s most impressive about Valentin’s scanner drone is that he has managed to incorporate some really cool mechanics that make the scanner drone come life in a way that we haven’t seen before.

The front plates can move, and whistles and lights are making the drone look almost identical to the one in Half-Life 2. When looking at the video, it’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that it is a real scanner drone. It looks almost like it’s from Half-Life 3, a game that has been expected by fans all over the world for quite some time now. Sure, game graphics are not at the ultra-realistic level just yet, however, as said, your head simply can’t wrap itself around it.

We here at Bit Rebels just can’t wait to see what Valentin is going to create next. Perhaps he will perfect his scanner drone with a Structure Sensor scanner so that it can scan the environment around it. That would be something, don’t you think?

Have a look at the video of the Half-Life 2 scanner drone in action and marvel over the perfection. Drone modders are starting to change the way drones operate and look and that is something that will bring the future closer to us. If you know of any other drone builds that you think we should have a look at, please tell us in the comment section below and we’ll have a look at it.
