Recycled Nintendo NES Becomes 6 Man Music Jamming Device

I don’t know how many times I have wished that I never got rid of my Nintendo NES console. It has almost become something to grieve over, and I can’t seem to get my butt out of the chair long enough to actually hunt another one down. I would just love to sit for a couple of hours and play Super Mario to get the brain juices flowing to get me inspired if inspiration ever drops under the required level to keep working. I am forever waiting for someone to tell me they want to get rid of their NES, and instead of throwing it away, they wanna give it to me. Yeah I know, it’s like waiting for a miracle that will never happen. Who would be mad enough to actually give away their NES base station, right?

Well, as it seems, there are quite a lot of people out there that actually did give their Nintendos away for free or even threw them away. Benjamin Gaulo knows this since he has received many of them. What does he do with them? He could make thousands of dollars just storing them somewhere in an underground bomb shelter, but he doesn’t. Instead, he uses them for his art project called Recycling Entertainment System.

It’s a hack that will have you jamming in no time, literally. Mr. Gaulo put together a six controller box, which is programmed to incorporate 6 Nintendo controllers to play instruments, all at the same time. It’s a complicated process that introduces new and ultimately geeky functionality to the controllers, and it enables basically a whole party to come together and play some Nintendo… hmm, music by jamming away with the buttons. The result… chaos to say the least, but fun! No doubt about it!
