I don’t go anywhere without a few gadgets in my bag, which is probably one of the reasons I don’t dive or go underwater much. Water and gadgets don’t typically go together unless you go out of your way to buy the waterproof stuff. These smart swimming goggles could change all that though. They are scheduled to hit the shelves in 2015, and if I were a diver, I would definitely want these. They are jam-packed with high tech features, and they will make you the geekiest underwater swimmer in the ocean.
These smart swimming goggles have won a few awards, including a reddot design award. Their purpose is to improve communication amongst people underwater. As a secondary purpose, they offer exceptional video and 3D camera capabilities. In addition to all this, these swimming goggles come with an augmented reality display. That way, when you see a fish or other organism beneath the surface, and if you don’t know what it is, your goggles will identify it for you.
The CALL button on the side of the goggles allows communication between swimmers, and the SHOT button on the side allows you to take vivid 3D images. You can access your photographs later with your smartphone through Bluetooth. They even come with a built-in GPS. It seems like these smart swimming goggles would help ease any underwater anxiety an inexperienced diver might feel.
You can view the images below to read more about the features and technology incorporated into these. Unfortunately, these are not available now, but they will be soon. Like I said, they are scheduled for launch in 2015. If you are looking for a way to express your geek style underwater, these will definitely do the trick. You’ll get your underwater geek cred.
