40 Technology Predictions For The Next 150 Years [Infographic]

When I think about the fact that the iPhone was released to the public only five short years ago, it makes it seem like technology is moving at the speed of light. There are some areas (like 3D printing technology) that are moving faster than others, but at the rate we’re going, we will probably be using Star Trek technology before we know it.

One of our writers here at Bit Rebels recently wrote about how the next evolution beyond Kindles could be that we read in our minds, and others think that we’ll read books on special contact lens. There are many technology predictions out there, and each one is as inspiring as the next. It’s a great time to be alive, and to watch it all unfold in real time.

What about the technology predictions for 50 or 100 years from now? If technology keeps moving at the pace it is now, it seems like human beings could be living in a completely different world in 100 years from now. I’m sure people who are 100-years-old look back on their lives and marvel over how different it is now compared to when they were young.

The people at BBC Future were also pondering these same questions, and they put together 40 interesting technology predictions that span our world from 2013 to 2150. Then they took it one step further and asked the bets division of the betting firm Ladbrokes to predict the odds of each one of these things coming true.

They put all their information together into this infographic called Tomorrow’s World. The categories they covered are computing and robotics, politics and business, science and nature, society and straight up technology. Some of this stuff seems a bit far-fetched, and some of it seems exciting and possible. What are your technology predictions for the future? Enjoy!
