Recently I set out to buy some reasonably priced high quality headphones to listen to as I write my articles. I ran out to the local music store and was amazed at how
poorly made virtually all of the headphones seemed to be. I looked in the price range of $50-$150 US.
I went to a local electronics store and the results were similar. Every single model I found had very thin wires and wire connections that appeared very fragile. $50 Sony’s were not going to cut it for me.
I turned to the web and found many options. The more I read, the more I learned. I found the Sennheiser HD 280 that seemed quite good, but so many people out there raved about the Grado Labs SR60i that I had to bite. A little more reading revealed that one model higher, the Grado SR80i, were a lot more comfortable to wear, so that is what I chose.
As I write this article, I am wearing my new Grados and I can say with confidence that I achieved my goal – very high quality headphones at a very reasonable price. If you are in the market for a new pair of headphones, I highly recommend these.
