The Kitchen Of The Future – It Totally Flips

The kitchen is probably the third most visited room in any house or apartment, depending on the size of it of course. Since we spend so much time in one single room, we should really make sure that everything in it is to our liking and that the functionality is top notch. Those are important aspects, but we also need to make sure that it’s modular and navigational enough for us to actually feel comfortable spending time in there.

This is something that designer Mathew Gilbride has spent a lot of time trying to figure out, and he certainly has a radical solution for it all. He entered his design into the Electrolux Design Lab 2010 contest. His contribution is one of only a few that entered. The design he came up with is a modular kitchen with a lot of possibilities.

It’s unique in that you are able to turn, flip and rearrange the shelves to either gain light, offload areas or adjust where you store your cook books and spices. It’s truly a magnificent design with a ton of futuristic approach. I am a true fan of this kind of stuff, and I wouldn’t mind switching out everything in my own kitchen to get this kitchen installed.
