Wake Up Smiling: The Alarm That Syncs To Your Body

My sleep schedule has been messed up for months now. I have no regular sleep pattern. Sometimes I’m wide-awake at 3am, and sometimes I have to sleep at 3pm. It’s a hassle because I have a daily schedule to keep for work, and I don’t have time for unusual sleep delays. I think I’ve been hanging out with @Minervity and @mistygirlph for so long now that they are rubbing off on me. Both of them get very little sleep each night because they are so busy.

My friend @JessicaNorthey has the same problem, and so it’s fun that we can keep each other company every once in a while on Twitter when we are awake at those odd times. I wish I knew what the exact right amount of sleep for me. I wish I could train my body to sleep so efficiently that it wouldn’t be for too long, or too short. I would always wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go. That would be my dream come true.

I just found out about a watch that synchronizes with our biological clock. Apparently it’s not new, it’s been around for a few years, but I just found out about it today. This is how it works… During the night, we all have different brain wave patterns present during different phases of sleep, right? We all have periods of the night when we are light sleepers, and other times when we are in REM sleep, etc… With this watch, you record your own nightly sleep pattern and analyze the information by uploading it to your PC.

According to the website, the Sleeptracker watch, “monitors your body and continuously looks for your optimal waking times so it can wake you at just the right moment.” You will always wake up feeling refreshed and revitalized because you will never be suddenly yanked out of a deep sleep by an alarm. Just for an example, say you want to wake up at about 6am. You would set this alarm for 5:40 – 6:20. This watch would gently wake you up during that time when you are in a light sleep. We write about many things on this site that I want, but this one, I’m ordering for sure. You can pick up your own Sleeptracker watch here for $179. I know, for that price you’d think they would at least make it a good-looking watch. Oh well, can you really put a price on waking up with a smile on your face? I didn’t think so.
