There are so many fancy headphone designs out there, but they all pretty much look the same. They’re boring really, and when I saw these wood headphones which are packed with technology, I instantly knew I liked them. Their rectangular shape and unusual style make these perfect for anyone who is tired of the same old headphones or earbuds. The only thing I’m not sure about is how comfortable they’d be. After all, they are not covered in soft foam like most headphones.
If you like environmentally friendly gadgets, you’ll definitely like these. When these wood headphones get old, and when it’s time to get a new pair, you can just burn them away. They were created by a 19-year-old student in Norway named Anders Stai Fougner. He is currently running a crowdsourcing campaign on NewJelly so he can complete the manufacturing process.
If you’d like to learn about how he packed all the necessary technology into these small pieces of wood, you can watch the video below. Even though it’s a bit long, it’s very interesting and goes through each step in the process. I think Anders has a bright future as a product designer.
Apparently the audio quality in these wood headphones is excellent. Each pair is handmade and custom fit for the wearer. If you’d like to learn more about these and possibly help fund this project, you can click over to The Wood. Head. Phones. With 24 days remaining, his campaign is 19% funded. If his campaign gets the complete funding it needs, I can see these becoming a great choice for a lot of people around the world. They also may inspire other designers to come up with other fantastic headphone designs. Suddenly the ordinary ones seem so old fashioned!
