Researchers and developers have long tried to create the first fully bionic man with the help of highly advanced technology. We have seen them in movies for decades, but the mold seems to be from iRobot starring Will Smith. Japanese scientists say that we’ll see personal robots in our homes in 2025 the latest. It is a bold and quite eager statement but one that could become true quite soon. The world’s first fully bionic man is proof of that.
The idea and development comes from a guy named Bertolt Meyer, who he himself is part bionic. Bertolt actually sports a fully functional bionic arm, which makes his whole idea of bionic people roaming our streets and homes even more probable. The bionic man that Bertolt has partly built, sports a complete bionic organ system with heart, eyes, kidney, pancreas, spleen and even has artificial nano blood pumping through the bionic man’s system.
Looking at the heart beat and knowing it all works in sync with each other is somewhat of an eye-opening experience. All of the bionic man’s components are technologies that are or will very soon be used in our human bodies as replacement components.
The day we’ll have our own personal robot is not too far away, you will see and understand that as soon as you take a look at this creation. So far robots are quite expensive, and they can’t do a fraction of what the human body is capable of yet. With this bionic man, we push innovation to the very edge which will bring the cost down. As new and more efficient technologies are created, the less the cost will be. This particular bionic man build costs around $1 million, but despite its price tag it can’t really walk.
It is easy to imagine that if more innovative researchers and developers got together to combine their technologies the faster these particular technologies would progress. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw fully bionic robots, almost human-like, walk around our streets within 20 years or so. Japan is a little bit more optimistic than that estimate, but it depends on how fast we can combine the different technologies available.
