Xentry: Turns Your Old Smartphone Into A Digital Peephole

With all the millions of smartphones that are sold every year, what happens to the ones that are old and dated? We toss them out when we buy new ones. It’s something that some people have been bothered by for years. Why can’t we recycle them and use them for something else instead? Well, it turns out that you can actually. A new product called Xentry could potentially turn your old smartphone into a super cool digital peephole.

Just because something is old, it doesn’t mean its purpose is fulfilled. It’s quite the contrary I would say. Wouldn’t it be super sexy to be able to use an old smartphone and its features for an updated digital peephole instead? It’s really simple now that the Xentry is here. It’s a new kind of smartphone housing that will enable you to mount your old smartphone on pretty much any surface and securely use it as a digital peephole.

The optimized wireless connection is of course a vital part of the whole contraption since you will (with your new smartphone) be able to connect to your old smartphone and get a realtime feed of what is going on outside your door. Well, that is of course if you decide to mount it on your front door. The Xentry is a startup project that could repurpose a whole lot of old smartphones in a way that we haven’t seen before.

The Xentry is a product from Xavage Technologies LLC. It’s a startup project that is looking to crowdsource, through IndieGoGo, the development and finalization of the product itself. They are looking to raise $200,000 within 33 days, which is something that so far is hard to predict since it’s so early in in the campaign. If they succeed though, I am sure there are plenty of people who are going to find that holding onto their old smartphone is not such a bad thing after all. I have to agree, it would be quite cool to be able to look on my own smartphone to see who’s knocking without having to leave my chair while I am working. Optimization is all digital these days, and in this case, it’s actually a good thing.
