20 Simplistic Typography Movie Posters: Pure Genius

Once again, I want to visit the realm of movie posters. Yeah I know, I am quite a fanatic. The fact is that as long as people try to send a message through them, I will always check them out. We have touched on the subject of simplifying the meaning of movie posters before, and the more I look for them, the more simplistic they get. However, I think they can’t get much more simplistic than what I have found for you all today.

The Star Wars posters I wrote about not too long ago are crowded compared to these. If you look really really hard, you will be able to catch why they are designed like this, and you’ll see that they match the movies they try to advertise perfectly.

Swedish designer and illustrator Patrik Svensson has a design company called Prince Hat. He took it upon himself to produce 20 movie posters that not only portray the awesomeness of the movies themselves, but they also do it in as few attributes as possible. The result is something out of the ordinary that will have your small gray brain cells go all active on you. With just typography, and a quite sparse amount I might add, the posters come alive with all kinds of thoughts and comparisons. You will be pounding these posters in your head for a long time.

It’s amazing what you can achieve with a little bit of text and a gray background. Patrik chose to revive some of the most legendary movies with his posters, and I find myself quite keen on watching some of them again since I have checked these posters out. That has to be a sign that they are doing their job quite well, and that they have some “pull” as I like to call it when it comes to posters and advertising in general. You guys should really check out Patrik’s other work because I am quite sure it will have you inspired instantly.
