Just last week I wrote about a Cardboard Restaurant that is surprisingly elegant and beautiful. Everything in that place (except the food and the servers of course) is made with recycled cardboard. Today I have a few other cardboard creations to share with you, and they come in the form of an office desk design and some other furniture. You may wonder why anyone would even want an office desk design like this, or at least I did. After thinking about it more, I can think of three kinds of people who would like this. People who want the most recycled desk ever, people who want a super cheap desk design, and hipsters who think it would make them look trendy and intellectual.
This desk design is called Cellulose, and it was created by Coudamy Design in France. The pictures you see below show the desks, which are held together by folding, glue and tape. There are no additional supports added to them, and they are apparently very sturdy and strong. These desks are sold very similarly to how IKEA furniture is sold in that they are unfolded and there is assembly required; however, it’s supposedly very easy and comes together quickly (umm…it looks a little more complicated than that to me). These desks are designed to last for many, many years.
The other pictures I put below are of bedroom and house cardboard furniture. Once you start looking into what can be made with cardboard, it’s really inspiring. I mean, even though it has a boring, blah, brown color, it still has a lot of pizzazz. You can click on the source links below to read about all this in more detail. If you want to see another very unusual cardboard design, check out this Cardboard Google Street View. Cardboard has a lot of potential!
