If you’ve grown tired of the same old, same old rose arrangements for your honey, why don’t you try what photographer Alexander James does with his roses? The stock photography artist carefully arranges perfectly bloomed red roses in the shapes of famous corporate logos. The catch is that he does this all underwater. I don’t know about you, but when I receive a bouquet of roses I can barely get them to stand up straight in the vase at home and look halfway pretty.
I am not an art connoisseur, but I love these photos. The stark contrast of the red flowers on the black background is both lush and minimalistic at the same time. These would make beautiful prints in my living room when I convince my dear husband we should do black on black. Someday. Heck, even better… I want him to make my own logo out of flowers as a print! I wonder if he’s ever done that for someone before. What he is able to do with these roses is truly inspiring.
According to Alexander’s website, this is “a fine art series of images of iconic global brands recreated in lush rose formations all shot underwater, in camera, with no post-production traditional or digital. Floral specimens are juxtaposed with black water, with subtle distortions created through the rippling waves of light and energy moving over the scene.”
