Everyone that’s involved in website design and developing knows that there are two very different jobs involved with it. First, we have the more artful side of it which is the web design itself. The designer is in charge of the look and features of the site. However, when it comes to taking care of the database and the code that builds up the features of the site, it’s the developer that does that. These two jobs are ultimately different and could probably be compared to being like a dentist and a doctor. Both of these people work with the body, however in two very different fields. In today’s design landscape, the line between developer and designer has become very obscure.
Web designers usually have a high degree of understanding complex code and are very capable of handling the database issues at hand, or at least, that’s what I have experienced. However, there is a battle going on between the two that most people don’t know about. It’s on the intellectual level and doesn’t really come across as a battle sometimes.
Developers know that web designers hate to work with code, database issues, and pretty much everything that has to do with bug fixes and feature error handling. Web designers, on the other hand, know that developers don’t have a clue about the right colors, the perfect user interface and apparently why it’s important to take a shower. This awesome infographic created by @shanesnow for Wix is a perfect look inside both worlds and what they fear. The only thing these two jobs have in common is probably the fear of women. Boyaaa!
