Inside “The Bold & The Beautiful” – Exclusive Interviews With Emmy Nominees

I had the unique opportunity to tour the set of the long-running television drama The Bold and the Beautiful alongside the esteemed Katherine Kelly Lang, beloved by millions as Brooke Logan. Following the widespread attention the report received in the Middle East, fans have eagerly requested more coverage of the show.

Today, I visited the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful at CBS Studios in West Hollywood to gather insights from the cast members who were a nominee for the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, where the show received an impressive 12 nominations.

I began my day with none other than the incomparable Katherine Kelly Lang, whom I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing twice before today. Lang, known for her iconic portrayal of Brooke Logan, has again earned a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. This marks Lang’s sixth Daytime Emmy Award nomination, a testament to her unparalleled talent and enduring impact on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

Lang’s previous nominations include a nod for Supporting Actress in 2013, as well as nominations for Lead Actress in 2014 and 2020, all for her portrayal of Brooke Logan.

Notably, she was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2002 in the special category of “America’s Favorite Couple.” In addition to her recognition for her work on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Lang received a Daytime Emmy for her contributions to the digital drama “VENICE The Series” producing team in 2014.

‘Well, it’s an honor, of course, to be nominated at all, and it felt like it was a surprise. I was really excited about it. It’s been a while since I got a nomination. So it just happened to be in the mix with those other beautiful, amazing women, and of course, realizing that, oh, wow, I guess I did have some good storylines because I was able to have good enough scenes to submit for the image.

So that was really good. So I thank Brad for that, of course, and for keeping Brooke always exciting, fresh, and fun. But you know, it’s a blessing to be nominated. It’s an honor for sure, but the real gift and prize is to be able to come to work and do what I love to do every single day with people I enjoy working with, and that’s what’s so great about it. It’s been like a family here for 37 years.’

And, of course, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to speak with Eric Forrester himself, who holds immense popularity in the Middle East, having graced our screens for over three decades.”

John McCook, acclaimed for his portrayal of Eric Forrester, has once again secured a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. This marks McCook’s fifth Daytime Emmy nomination, all for his remarkable contributions to ‘The Bold and the Beautiful.’ Notably, McCook clinched this prestigious award in the same category back in 2022.

It’s wonderful. You know, I never expected. I don’t need it or have to have it. It’s a wonderful gift from the Academy and from the other actors in daytime who vote for this sort of thing. It’s a lovely pattern in the back, really.

And so to be nominated again is surprising. I have to say though, I had a really strong story which Brad Bell, our head writer, wrote a wonderful story for me and I’m always grateful that he trusts that an older story will be successful. You know, we think of soap operas as love stories and they’re young people and all that.

And of course it is and that’s the way it is. But our shows are generational and Brad honors that by involving the whole family of cast members in these stories with older characters. It’s good. It’s good for me. And I’m the old guy on the show. Reflecting on his tenure of over three decades on the show, he remarked: “Oh, it’s wonderful.

You know, I can’t be grateful enough to be an actor who’s been on the same paycheck for 37 years. I mean, actors are working, not working, not working, acting. You know, it’s all like this up and down. And so I’ve been here. I’ve been an actor for more than 60 years and more than 40 of them I’ve been working in daytime television. So I feel wonderful still being here.”

Now, let’s hear from Thorsten Kaye, acclaimed for his portrayal of Ridge Forrester, who is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. This marks Kaye’s eighth nomination in this category, and his fourth for his role as “Ridge” on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Notably, Kaye secured the Lead Actor Daytime Emmy in 2023.

What sets Kaye apart is his unique achievement as the only performer to be Emmy® nominated in the “Lead Actor” category on three different daytime dramas.

“It’s always nice to be nominated, you know, but again, that’s somebody else’s opinion. There’s 10, 15 guys I think should have been nominated too, but that’s only five, so it’s good. It’s good. Feel good about it”

Scott Clifton Interviews Article Image

Next up, we have Scott Clifton, who is also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Liam Spencer. This marks Clifton’s tenth Daytime Emmy nomination across three different daytime dramas. Notably, he clinched victories in the Younger Actor category in 2011, Supporting Actor in 2013, and Lead Actor in 2017, all for his exceptional performances on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

“Yeah, it’s funny. You know the cliché, it’s an honor just to be nominated, and usually I say that, and of course, that’s true. But this year, the thing I’m going to remember, the thing that’s going to be most special to me, even at the end of my life when I’m looking back, is not whether I won or lost, but the fact that I was nominated with John and Torsten.

For us to have three-fifths of the actor nominees for Bold and Beautiful, it’s just a really special year. It feels really good, and it feels like all of us as a team are… I don’t know, we’re all nominated together. It’s really cool.”

Last but certainly not least, we have the Outstanding Costume Design/Styling for a Drama or Daytime Fiction Program category. Jeresa Featherstone, Costume Designer, along with Anabel Shuckhart, Wardrobe Supervisor, and a talented team including Gail Mosley, Jennifer Johns, Patrice Johnson, Lucy Flores, Ross Fuentes, and Angelo Santos, Costume Stylists, have earned a remarkable 24th nomination in this category.

Their stellar work has been recognized with 12 previous wins in 1991, 1992, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2023. Notably, Featherstone secured her first win in this category in 2023, cementing their legacy of excellence in costume design and styling.

“Oh, such an honor. I’m so excited. The team and I have been working so hard, and it feels so good to be recognized for our hard work. Because it is hard work.”
