This information goes against earlier rumors that claimed GTA 6 could be released in October 2023. Again, with all these online leaks from random sources, it is hard to know what is true. This source claimed that the game will be set in the 1970s and follow the story of a male protagonist. It also claims it will be set in chapters, like the structure of Red Dead Redemption 2. Although not knowing the real truth makes the build-up exciting for fans.

Where Will The Game Be Set?

Rumors have hinted at potential locations for GTA 6. These include Vice City or being set across all of the US. The latest hints arrived in June 2021 when it was rumored GTA 6 would be set in a modern-day Vice City. Tom Henderson is a tipster who has an amazing track record. He claimed in March 2021 when answering Twitter questions that: “it is not set in the 1980s and is modern.”

In 2020, a huge GTA 6 leak happened on Reddit. A user who goes by the name of JackOLantern1982 leaked 23 details about the game. Confirming that it was in development, the user also claims that the codename for the game is Project America. The game will supposedly take place over more than one country, Vice City in the US and in Brazil in a fictional Rio de Janeiro. The user also claims that the narration of the game is influenced greatly by Netflix’s Narcos.

If it is influenced by Narcos, then the game could be about building your own drug empire or using similar mechanisms from the other Vice City stories. The vehicle you own will function more like a horse, as found in Red Dead Redemption 2. Your equipment will all be stored in the trunk of the vehicle rather than just on your character’s person. According to this huge leak, the weather will be a huge focus for the game. Set in the 70s/80s, buildings will advance over time.

What Will The Story Be About?

As for the storyline, there has been a fair share of rumors circulating. Some claim that it will be one single hero and others think it will be similar to older games with multiple protagonists.

The 2020 Reddit leak also claims it is set in the 1970s/1980s and features a singular male. Apparently, his name will be Ricardo and he will be a wannabe drug-lord. Another key character called “Kacey” will be in the mix. According to the leak, ‘Ricardo’ will start his career as a cocaine smuggler, weaving from Vice City to the new largely South American area. Your tasks will involve befriending popular drug lords and working your way up. The story supposedly also tackles hard-hitting topics like HIV and the immigration crisis.

It will most likely be released on PS5 or the Xbox Series X release, but it could potentially be based on a PC too.
