DIY Kryptonite Candy: Destroy Superman From Your Kitchen

All you science geeks out there are going to love this! A chemical and biological engineering student interested in computational fluid dynamics figured out how to make glow-in-the-dark candy in her own kitchen, just for fun.

After reading about this, I’ve decided that Instructables member BrittLiv is truly a mad scientist, and I have no doubt she could kick Superman’s butt at will. The only things you’ll need to make this candy are sugar, a vitamin B2 pill, green food coloring, mint oil, aluminum foil, a UV light, a pot and a candy thermometer.

If you decide to make this candy, you really need to do it in the dark. Why cook in the dark? Why the vitamin pill? Well, you didn’t think making something strong enough to kill Superman would be easy, did you? BrittLiv explains all the geeky details here (this is a screenshot from her Instructables)…

I bet you didn’t know that Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) could glow-in-the-dark did you? It loses its glowing strength with light exposure, as BrittLiv explains, so getcha a flashlight and get to cooking! To all you Lex Luthor wannabes, send us a pic of your candy after you make it! Now the real question is, will you actually eat it? Hmm…
