Paper Heroes: When Simplicity Rules

I have come to love the way people reformat the methods of creating cool art. For a long time, it has all been about making something advanced, extravagant and time consuming, which will make people go numb just thinking about the work that must have gone into it. However, there is an edge here that some people don’t realize. Just because your creation took a long time to put together doesn’t make it brilliant. It is when you spend hours and hours pouring over ideas in your head about how to simplify things that genius sets in. To make something complicated into something simple is one of the hardest things you can achieve in art and creativity.

Designer and paper pioneer Gregoire Guillemin has those qualities all laid out, and he understands that simplicity is often way more appreciated than complicated patterns and shapes. With just a few sheets of paper and the right colors, he managed to put together some of the most inspirational and genius superhero artworks to date, at least in my opinion. With just a pair of scissors, paper and glue, he creates unmistakably correct portraits of some of the most legendary superheroes.

Iron Man, The Hulk, Hell Boy and more are carefully layered into artistic masterpieces that will have you go nuts for posters of all of them. I am so tired of all of the boring and cluttered movie posters these days that every time that I see something simple and clean I always want to check the movie out, no exceptions. Posters and artwork are all about your attention, and the goal is to make you think. These posters definitely start up that ole brain of yours to try and figure out exactly what it is that makes these posters so mesmerizing. What makes you stare at them? What makes your head start crunching their data if you will?
