Happy Employees vs. Sad Employees: How To Convert [Infographic]

With all the mobile technology that is being developed and refined, we are seeing a great shift in how people complete their daily work. The somewhat old style way of working 9-5 is of course something that a lot of people are still very accustomed to, but more and more people are trying to become more mobile in their approach to working. This brings with it a lot of flexibility but also a lot of responsibility. If you have experienced both, you know that with the more traditional way of working, there is not much room for a creative mind to get inspired. You pretty much just do whatever you are told to do, and you do it every single day.

When you are working from home or maybe a coffee shop, wherever you may be, you experience a lot more freedom when it comes to how you do your work, but the pressure of completing your work on time might be more rough on you. This all of course depends on whether you are used to doing what you are supposed to do and not procrastinating it and continuously doing something else. As an employer, it can be hard to completely trust a flexible worker until you know what the person is all about. A responsible person might do more than he or she should, which makes for a great investment of trust on the employer’s side. However, if the work doesn’t get done, it could all come back to rock the boat upside down.

Recent studies have shown that flexible workers (or workshifters as it is awkwardly referred to in this infographic) find themselves to be a lot more happy than people who are still working the traditional style of 9-5. The reasons for this are of course quite simple, and it boils down to the fact that you get a lot more freedom and are able to complete work in a wider time frame than a traditional worker.

There are also a lot of other positive effects that come along with choosing a more flexible approach to your work schedule. For example, it is shown that flexible workers save as much as $138.80 a month on traveling. Productivity is also increased by about 27%, which means a heck of a lot more progress made for a business short on time. As a traditional worker, you are also 18% more likely to undermine your co-workers’ successes, which makes for a pretty harsh and unhappy work environment if you ask me. It would be great to have employee surveys to see if your employees need a more flexible work schedule.

Have a look at this infographic called What Makes A Happy Worker vs. A Sad Worker by CITRIX | Online, and see why it might be a better idea to switch your traditional hours for a more flexible lifestyle. Not only will you experience two times less stress when you make the switch, but you will also see a whole lot more creativity in your thinking. The question is whether or not you would be able to handle a flexible schedule, or if you would procrastinate your work to the point where you would just lose grip of it all and fall behind, possibly making the stress 3 times higher than if you had traditional hours. Only you know the answer to that. Which one would you prefer?
