Ruffle Dress Made From Old Book Pages Is Actually Wearable & Cute

There are tons of ways to recycle old books, and we’ve written about a lot of them. This is the first time I’ve seen a creation that focuses on old book pages though. More specifically, it looks like it’s the pages from an old dictionary. When you first look at this ruffle dress, you would probably never guess it was made by folding, bending and attaching a bunch of old book pages. It’s very well done, and it almost looks like it belongs in a retail store or specialty shop.

This dress was created by a Redditor named Jorimoo. She made it to wear to a ‘readers and writers festival,’ and you can see her modeling it below. She even made a matching hat. I see one piece of lace peeking out from the pages. This is such a great way to create a secondhand use for a book (or old book pages) that would otherwise just sit on a shelf, never to be looked at again.

As you can see, there are several layers and a lot of detail to this dress. I wish I knew how many pages she used to make this, and how long it took her to complete it. I also wonder if this dress was strong enough to wear all day. It’s as cute as can be, but I wonder if sitting down would crunch it into oblivion or even tear it. I also wonder why she chose the letter “g” when selecting which pages to use from the dictionary.

One thing is for sure. If Jorimoo can make a dress that looks this good from the pages of an old dictionary, she can surely make clothes out of anything. I’m sure she was the center of attention at the festival!
