One of the biggest trends in online marketing now is content marketing. About a year ago when content marketing became a popular buzzword, many people thought it just meant getting influential blogs to write about certain products or services. By now, most people understand it is much more involved than that. We hear people say it’s important to know what your goals are before you begin any type of content marketing, and although that is an easy step to skip, it is important for many reasons.
One of the reasons it’s important to know your content marketing goals is because at some point, you’ll measure whether your campaign is effective or not. If your goal is to generate leads, you’ll measure the effectiveness differently than if your goal is to generate awareness or engagement. You can read more about this on How To Measure The Effectiveness Of Content Marketing.
When I saw this chart called The Content Marketing Landscape by Content Amp, I thought it was helpful for understanding the current state of content marketing. It highlights all the different aspects of content marketing and how they are interconnected to create the results you want.
The way this trend is headed, this type of marketing is poised to grow even more this year. Sometimes it’s hard to know where to even begin when creating your content marketing campaign. This chart will hopefully put it all into perspective for you. If you click on it, you’ll see that the chart itself is huge, and I left it that way so you could size it yourself to make it whatever size you want it to be to hang in your office.
In a nutshell, if you focus on becoming the number one information provider in your niche (and everything that’s involved to make that possible), you’ll be headed in the right direction when it comes to your 2013 content marketing strategy.
