Since a large part of my job involves sales, I normally don’t buy into the theory that ‘summer is a slower season.’ I’ve heard that a lot over the years, and if you’re in sales too, you know it can mess with your mind. It becomes too easy to say, “People just aren’t buying this time of year.” I don’t believe that, but for the sake of this article, I’ll accept the fact that social media may be slower during the summer months because these social media tips are really good.
This infographic is called What Today’s Social Landscape Can Offer Small Businesses Tomorrow, and it’s by Constant Contact. It’s filled with social media tips that you can do now to get prepared for the busy fall season, which is right around the corner. It’s written from the perspective that assumes you’ll have a little more time during the summer months, and it makes suggestions for how you can use that time to further advance your social media efforts.
For example, the summertime is a great time to try a different social media site that you’ve been meaning to check out. It’s also a great time to switch up your strategy altogether and try something new, or even start engaging more on Facebook with @ replies instead of just focusing on posting content. There are other summer social media tips in here too.
There are a lot of small businesses that buy into the mentality that the ‘summer is a slower season,’ and they’ll relax a bit because of it. If you stay on your game during the next few months while they’re taking time off, you’ll position yourself to be stronger when the fall comes. Consistency, quality and dedication are always going to be what helps you get ahead in social media, and that applies to every season of the year, not just the summer.
