Mike Libby from Insect Lab does something similar, but a little more diabolical. He finds or buys dead insects, then dissects them to add some technology to their body, more specifically, a little part from an antique wristwatch, sewing machine or typewriter.
He is inspired by science fiction movies where bugs are typically displayed as scary robot critters that scurry along the galaxy as invading aliens.
