VixPlug Enables Home Automation From Your Tablet

Home automation is a field of technology that a lot of developers are currently trying to grab market shares in. It is a huge up and coming technology that is going to benefit everyone’s comfort and lifestyle. There have been plenty of gadgets and devices that do various things in our homes, but the VixPlug from Vixperience is a different kind of breed on so many levels. By using several relays that can be wirelessly turned off, you can control your entire house from your tablet.

At first glance, the device looks just like all of the other wireless plugs and relays. The VixPlug home automation device comes with an ace up its sleeve. When everything is setup, you can just snap a picture of the gadget connected to the relay housing and then sync it on the screen. This will enable you to wirelessly turn it on and off whenever you want and wherever you are.

This is not the only feature this home automation device has though. The app on your tablet can be optimized in a lot of ways now that it’s all digital. Set a virtual timer on your iPad, and it will make sure your stuff turns on and off with what I think is push notifications. As long as your tablet has power, everything is possible.

The developers of the VixPlug home automation device are, however, in need of funding in order to finalize their must-have device. Through IndieGoGo, they are looking to raise $50,000 within 20 days. Knowing the campaign has been up for about 10 days or so, and the fact that they have only managed to raise a little north of $1,200, it doesn’t exactly look like the general population (on IndieGoGo that is) is especially impressed.

Could it enhance our lives? I think it could, but it seems to be a lot of setting up just to turn stuff on and off. It claims to be plug-and-play, but that relay doesn’t exactly look like a plug-and-play device to me. Fortunately, there are far more home automation devices on the market that require less set up which could be a better investment. A plus, however, is that the VixPlug home automation device comes with an open API.
