5 Types Of Language Services Your International Company Might Benefit From

There are so many translation services out there. Each brings something unique to the table, but not all are relevant to your business and its needs. Weighing up the pros and cons of the different language services available is a great place to start. Here are FIVE main types of language services your international company could use.

1. Interpretation

As an international company, interpretation is a language service you should absolutely consider. Conveying the meaning of words spoken in one language into another is crucial. You need to speak the same lingo. And if you can’t do that yourself, then it’s time you considered reaching out to reputable interpretation experts.

2. International Language Translation

Imagine speaking and understanding many languages and how efficient that would be! But, we’re not all blessed with bilingual skills, and sometimes, it’s easier to trust international translators. They know what they’re doing, and in most cases, they’ve studied languages for years and won’t let you down. And at least with a professional translator, you don’t have to worry that things won’t make sense when translated.

3. Proofreading Copy

While written and spoken words hold the same meaning, a written copy is slightly harder to translate than other forms. It’s like a puzzle, and all parts piece together to make sense. If one word is poorly translated, your copy won’t make sense. And if it doesn’t make sense to you, it won’t make sense to anyone else either. So, if you decide to translate a written copy yourself, be sure to find a trusted proofreader who can vouch that everything makes sense and flows well.

4. Transcribing Audio

Words hold so much value but can often be appreciated too little. If you pick the right words, the point you’re trying to make will make a lasting impression regardless of what you’re selling. For example, when speakers give a speech, they don’t just cater to those who hear what they’re saying. They also rely on transcribing audio. This means that those who are deaf or hard of hearing can interpret what they’re saying, too.

A professional transcriptionist will listen to audio speech and create a written version. This way, nothing falls by the wayside. You can email, edit and share words from the audio without having to go through it yourself. So, be sure to pick words that are easy to understand and transcribe.

5. Multimedia

Who knew you could translate graphics, videotapes, PRs, charticles, GIFs, infographics, animations?! – the list goes on! These are all forms of visual language that you can translate through a multimedia language service. In short, multimedia translation is used in cinema. A movie splits down into frames, shots, and phases. In this case, the translator would analyze and identify all the semiotic modalities.

In reality, no business owner can handle all this alone. It’s too much responsibility for one person to take on, and if anything is poorly translated, it can cost thousands to set things straight. It’s not worth the risk.
