A Collection Of Art From Pop Culture Extraordinaire Scott C.

If you’ve never heard of Scott C. before, get ready to get happy. If you have heard of him, this will be a nice reminder of how awesome he is. For more than a decade, Scott C. has been making a name for himself as an illustrator and artist. After leaving his job at Lucas Learning (as in George Lucas), he went to work as an Art Director for Tim Schafer at Double Fine Productions. You may recollect a couple games he worked on there: Psychonauts and Brütal Legend. Scott was also working on a variety of side projects at that time including Hickee Comics, Double Fine Action Comics, the “Igloo Head and Tree Head” series as well as a project called “Great Showdowns.”

Scott C.’s work has been featured in numerous galleries and shows throughout the world including Gallery 1988 and Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles as well as Galerie Arludik in Paris. Scott presents at all the big comic book shows as well, including the SDCC, Emerald City and Heroes Con. Numerous websites and magazines have featured Scott C. including Wired, Geek, and Slashfilm among others. His clients include Simon & Schuster, New Line Cinema, Nickelodeon, MC Frontalot, and The Hive (just to name a few).

Scott C.’s work is an epic journey through pop culture. He covers everything from Adventure Time and the Avengers (shown below) to Star Wars, video games, David Bowie, ninjas and zombies. Many of his creations are conceptual masterpieces, while you wish others were pillows you could cuddle while you sleep.

2011 saw the release of 2 books including Zombie in Love written by Kelly DiPucchio and Amazing Everything, which is a collection of his work with a foreword by Jack Black whom Scott met while working on the Brütal Legend video game. In January of 2012, East Dragon West Dragon was released. And now for the really big news – Scott C. has a new book coming out October 30th. And one of our collective’s favorites, Neil Patrick Harris, wrote the forward. The book will feature many famous showdowns from our pop culture – Alien vs. Sigourney Weaver, Willow vs. Madmartigan, Gene Kelly vs. Lampost, Luke Skywalker (and bone) vs. Rancor and The Nautilus vs. Giant Squid – and the list goes on. Follow Scott on Twitter and check out his incredible website Pyramidcar. If you want to see more of Scott’s Great Showdowns, visit his Tumblr page.
